The Legacy
In 1925, the 135th Street branch of the New York Public Library opened its doors as a vital cultural hub during the height of the Harlem Renaissance. One year later, in 1926, master collector Arturo Alfonso Schomburg added his unparalleled personal collection of Black literature, art, and history, forever cementing this institution as a cornerstone of global Black history.

The Building
This pin beautifully replicates the original landmark 135th Street Library building, designed by the renowned architecture firm McKim, Mead & White. For a century, these walls have preserved, protected, and celebrated the rich, diverse stories of the African Diaspora.
